Family Support

Working with Families

I offer family therapy where I work with your family as a group. I create a safe space that helps members of a family to understand themselves, each other, and the family dynamics better, to change negative behaviours and resolve conflict.

I give families the chance to explore their feelings in a safe, non-judgemental environment and endeavour to help families move out of old, unhelpful patterns, and create new ones, together.

Parent Support

I offer therapy sessions to parents individually to help them build a more connected and attuned relationship with their child and everyone in the family. This can range from parents with babies, toddlers up to and including adolescents.

These sessions are designed to support parents in understanding and enjoying their children during challenging times. I work with parents to identify practical ways to improve their family relationships.

Educational Assessment and School Liaison

I offer educational consultancy for parents who need help in gaining appropriate support for their children in their school or education setting. I have extensive experience supporting Children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties, having worked primarily as a primary school teacher and then as a specialist teacher for children with SEMH needs for 12 years. Having this educational background gives me invaluable knowledge and insight into schools and how to support children in schools.

I provide this service to parents wishing to have support for their child in school through doing observations of the child/young person in school, meeting with staff, writing of reports and support with multiagency meetings. I liaise closely with the school, if required, for any child or young person who is having psychotherapy with me.

I am able to write referral letters to specialists for children who may be displaying traits of autism, ADHD etc, and help with the referral process.

If you are struggling to get the support your child may need in school due to any additional needs they may have, contact me and we can discuss how I may be able to help.
